For Parents using Childcare, there may be help available towards the costs. The main sources of help for working Parents are:

  • Tax Credits

  • Childcare Vouchers

Tax Credits

Through tax credits, eligible families may be able to receive up to 70 percent towards the costs of eligible Childcare up to a maximum level of £175.00 per week for 1 child and £300 per week for two or more Children.

You may be able to get help with the costs of Childcare through tax credits if the following apply -

  • You are a lone Parent working 16 hours or more per week

  • You are part of a couple and your partner works 16 hours or more per week ( you will also be eligible if one of you works 16 or more hours per week and the other does not work, but is in hospital, in prison or ill or disabled and claiming disability benefits)

  • You are using registered or approved Childcare

Your family's income will be taken into consideration when calculating whether you are eligible. There is a tax credits calculator on the HM Revenue and Customs website (                                     ) that will give you an indication of whether you are eligible and if so, how much you might be entitled to.

More information about tax credits can be found on the HMRC website (                     ).

Childcare Vouchers

Childcare vouchers are a way in which you can get help with childcare costs through your employer. For more information open the link below which will allow you to view and/or print off a Childcare voucher leaflet
